There’s a lot that I’ve learned about myself in sobriety and the biggest thing, the thing that I still struggle with today is knowing when to take accountability and how to make it right. It’s a muscle I spent my whole life avoiding and so it makes sense that it’s going to take time for me to build it up by using it over and over again until it develops enough muscle memory for me to instinctively know what my part in things are and when to apologise.

So, when I was walking through Liverpool Street Station yesterday, I observed a moment between two strangers on the platform that filled my soul with hope for the human race. It also showed me, in real time, what it looked like to be human, to fuck up and then to make it right.

The most surprising thing? That the incident I observed, left untreated, could have ruined the day of two people. Instead, it became one of the best things that happened to them both that day and it was all because one woman was able to own her shit and make it right.

Enjoy!
