Review: Cleopatra & Frankenstein

Coco Mellors is almost too good, if that's possible.

First things first - this is hands down one of the best books I’ve read in a decade. Coco Mellors has managed to do the impossible - write an astonishingly literary book that you can’t put down.

For the last few years, I’ve just not had the head space to read award winning literature. I’ve not given myself a hard time about it, but I’ve been languishing comfortably in the genre of ‘holiday reads’. That’s not meant to be disparaging - it’s a real skill to write a book that people don’t want to put down. But between kids, work, and all the rest of it, settling into a Booker Prize book has felt more like work than pleasure.
